What's the point in the high pass vs just lowering the opacity of the retouched (blurred) layer? Seems like an extra step that others don't do for a reason. Or is there one I'm missing?

This is great. This might be the best technique I've seen for beauty retouching. I like how the last steps with high pass does such a good job of bringing back realistic detail. Thanks

This is very helpful. I love how you can explain it so clearly. I got it the first time I tried softening one of my self-portraits. Thank you. :)

I really appreciate this lesson. The results I did with one of my shots was awesome. You explained it very well. I had been looking countlessly for someone who would explain things to where you get the results they did.

So many other ones out there and the results were horrible, not like they had and I did what they said.

Much appreciation for this lesson. I am going to bookmark it for sure until I get the hang of it in PS.

It really brought the eyes out in the model.

Man, this works so well. Not only did I have your 3 choices but I'd done another one previously and wasn't pleased with the result... That high pass filter and gaussian blur really did the trick for me... Fantastic tut!
