Ok, so today was my first encounter with a hacker. It was the middle of the day when there was this Asian looking geekazoid, and he threw 2 blue shells BEFORE the race even started. I'm like what the heck? And then we take off, and this guy is throwing bomb ombs, throwing 2 blue shells at one time, and finishing a lap in 10 seconds. I thought it was annoying at first, but then I thought, hey it would be fun to hack Mario kart wii! And then after reading this, it seems like it pisses off everyone and now I don't want to do it because all I want to do is have fun.

The people that go through the trouble of modding their wii systems to hack Mario kart clearly have a lot of time on their hands;time that could only be available to someone who doesn't have a large social circle. It just shows how desperate people can become.

I'm not gonna lie.. All of you sound like 10 year olds crying over losing 200 rating. IMO, rating means nothing. I look at somebody with a 9000 rating the same as someone with a 6000 rating. Heck, I've intentionally brought my rating down to 4000 before.

Overall, it's pixels.

Unbelievable! The original post is from more than 3 years ago, and this hacking persists. Nintendo should do something to protect their product and customers. Sadly, if they haven't manage to curtail this problem yet, they won't unless and until they lose money. It's baffling to me that anyone is that pathetic of a loser that he/she spends time cheating at a video game. Wow...I'm now picturing a bunch of sweaty, chubby losers sitting in their mom's basement hacking into a game to cheat 8 year old kids out of a Mario Kart win. If you're reading this, hackers, this does mean you. You can't beat small children at a game if left to your own LEGAL methods? Wow. Mom must be very proud of you. Put down that bag of Cheetos and give yourselves a round of applause.

I have encountered hackers pretty much anytime I race on Mario Kart Wii. It is so hard to find a race with people who race without any hacks. I have seen the most well known hackers playing: 'Bin Laden' and 'Mr Bean' Not only do they hack items but they also fall off of tracks and then come back a second later, another are these hacks where they kind of lock on to you and ram you. Of course you can ram people without hacks, but its different. I just quit and find other people if it happens.

If you see someone with 9999 VR, get out of there!

The bad news: I used to be a 8000 pointer, until I ran into a bunch of hackers! I'm now down to 6500... but I played a little to get to 7700. The good news: I can tell you a hacker name! Her name is NKplayer, She is from Hawaii, she has a balloon icon and a few letters in "player" have rank letters. If you come across her, be warned. :<

Due to the rapid rise of hackers, I just don't bother playing anything online related to nintendo unless I have several FC and they all available to play. More sadly there are hacks on the internet that can alter their Wii to do what their desire like unban, or even unbrick their wii. (brick = block online completely )

Homebrew, an important channel for hackers to hack with, has already proven very troubling from the very start. There haven't been an efficient way to stop hackers using this channel and other hack related programs. Despite multiple updates, hackers always to develop new hacks to void every attempt by nintendo...though most hackers doesn't update the Wii to begin with.

On brawl, over 85% percent of taunt parities and hackers dominate basic brawl.
On MKWii, I often encounter a hacker around 3 times per week assuming I play a wifi race per day. There have also been several WiiWare online games that has been hacked.

Even if Nintendo did ban them, there are hacks for the hackers to lift the ban themselves. Bah! even hackers can hack other honest players and maybe have them banned as a result (they almost banned my 7 year old cousin at one point) . Its too dangerous to go online anymore.

Nintendo need to do something extreme to stop them. The only thing is to have an infected type Wii update. It can download into the wii of honest people. Then online where the hackers are, copy the update from the honest user to the wii of the hacker while they hack online. Their wii will surely be bricked (no longer to play online unless they uninstall their homebrew channel or any thing hacking related completely). To make sure the code is efficient, the anti hack code must be updated from the nintendo site every week or month at least with different encryption codes.

but that just my opinion on this.

my eight year old son doesn't want to play any wii gamesanymore because the cheaters have taken the fun out of mariokart. i sent nintendo an email explaining my son's disappointment. they sent back a generic polite form letter telling me to not go online or create a friend network. i understand its the hackers who are the problem and im not angry at nintendo(annoyed) but they are unveiling the new wii console soon and maybe their marketing department doesn't understand branding or they dont care?
